This is the photoblog of Jonk on his first visit to China. He's been to Hong Kong (twice), but you see - back then, it was still a British Colony.

Anyway! This will be a record of events and happenings and thoughts and reflections of this Chinese man, as well as a presentation of his photographs from the trip.

Review of Gear Lineup: The EOS 350D was fit with the Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM and Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 lens most of the time. I only used the Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro in Hong Kong & Macau.
The 10-22mm FOV was great for landscape photography, and street photography. I could easily sneak photos even when my subjects were in close proximity. This was the most used lens for the trip. When I needed more focal length, and a faster aperture, I'd mount the 17-50mm f/2.8 lens. This lens was also used extensively, probably just as must as the 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5.
I used my Canon PS A700 three times only, to photograph the breakfast food labels. The batteries wouldn't last in the cold. I used the CPL once only, and that was only to remove reflections from a glass panel (with little success). The tripod was used for the first few days of the trip, and for group photos.
Did not regret not bringing my BG-E3 battery grip this time, as I could enjoy travelling light.
Will probably bring a similar lineup on successive trips, with the telephoto lens being a possible lens to leave out.
